Has anyone used the new Mac Servers and would you recommend running the DB off that rather than the Windows Hyper V server?įilemaker does not perform well over WAN.įilemaker is great for many things, but it is not great for WAN performance. Has anyone had speed issues with FMP and if so, what did you do to overcome them? We are looking a dedicated XFM server but the stinking things are so expensive. At this point, we are throwing our hands up in the air saying WTF? Its supposed to work but its not.
We have 2 satellite offices connecting through a VPN to access the data and those sites seem slow as well. he software tanked so bad we could not use it so we migrated the DB over to a Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and it seems to be doin OK but not lightning fast. We originally had it running on a really fast Dell PowerEdge T320 with 32GB RAM and running Server 2012v2 with a Hyper V server dedicated to run FMP. We have not been happy with the performance of the DB as it is really slow and the end users seem to have a significant lag from the time they enter data to the time it shows up on the screen. I have 120 mostly macs using a custom FMP DB designed specifically for veterinary medicine.
